Sound Investment Band” is a eight to ten-piece live super band consisting of a Lead Male Vocalist/Master of Ceremonies, Female Lead Vocalist, Guitarist lead vocalist, Bassist, Drummer and percussionist, Keyboards and Sax player. The lead vocalist also doubles on guitar, sax, harmonica and congas. Our musicians are also great vocalists and our varied range of styles allows us to cover almost every type of music. Because of very diverse musical backgrounds the band can perform a strong rendition and variety of Swing, Big Band, Rock, Motown, Oldies, Alternative, Disco, Funk, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues. Sound Investment Band is available for events in the Philadelphia area.

Lead Vocalist and Band Leader

Philip joined “The Sound Investment Band” in 1977. At the time it was a hard rock, funk, R&B and disco club band. As the lead vocalist, he was soon adopted as the bandleader. During his 31-year history with the Band, even when there have been a few personnel changes, the quality of performers have remained first class. Phil is the driving force of the Band. He is dedicated to the overall quality performance of the band. Born in South Philadelphia, he received his vocal training from his father, a tenor and opera singer. He remembers growing up and watching his father singing with a best friend, another tenor named Freddie CoCoza (better known as Mario Lanza). Phil Jr. grew up singing with his father and his voice became his main instrument, although now he will occasionally play sax, guitar, piano, harmonica or congas. Phil has performed full time with “The Sound Investment Band” in the Philly club circuit for 12 years and throughout college before converting the Band into the huge variety dance band that it is today. With a Bachelors Degree in Education from West Chester State University and a Masters in Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, he has spent most of his life, and is most comfortable performing on a stage. Through out his professional career he has worked as a back up vocal for numerous musical studio projects, voice over and commercial TV shows and video spots. Phil’s voice is found on more than 40 different vocal tracks recorded by Gambol and Huff and Cameo Parkway Records. Phil has rehearsed with Todd Rungren of the Nazz in Landsdowne, PA, and more than once performed as duo with “Jim Croce” in Lima, PA. He has recorded at Sonic Studios, the same place where Sheryl Crow and Blues Traveler have recorded. He was the lead vocal on an audition recording project for guitar player Jeff La Baar at the time, soon to be guitar player for the rock band “Cinderella”. Phil has written, arranged and produced 4 original CDs/Albums and recorded over 100 single cover tunes.

With an ear for melody, harmony and musicians, Phil co-ordinates the Band’s musical talents to collectively create the finished product. As Band leader and a sharing lead vocalist, Phil enjoys weddings and parties. “Performing live with The Sound Investment Band is a fun part of my life. I hope the audience sees that in my performance” says Phil. “I love the variety of music. We can play anything from the 50′s to the current tunes.” Phil also manages all facets of the event and band making sure the band sounds just right for your dining and dancing pleasure. He is an excellent speaker and seasoned showman. As a side note, Phil also operates The Philadelphia School of Self Defense and is a practicing 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do Master, (WWW.PhiladelphiaSchoolofSelfDefense.com) formally owned two Gold’s Gyms and still enjoys performing in the Sound Investment Band, DJ or as a Wedding Ceremony Officiate along with his wife Kathleen “Two Hearts One Love Wedding Ministries”.
