Message from the President

PHIL SCISCIONE

LEAD VOCAL AND BAND LEADER OF "THE SOUND INVESTMENT BAND"

Philip joined "The Sound Investment Band" in 1977. At the time it was a hard rock, funk, R&B and disco club band. As the lead vocalist, he was soon adopted as the bandleader. During his 31-year history with the Band, even when there have been a few personnel changes, the quality of performers have remained first class. Phil is the driving force of the Band. He is dedicated to the overall quality performance of the band. Born in South Philadelphia, he received his vocal training from his father, a tenor and opera singer. He remembers growing up and watching his father singing with a best friend, another tenor named Freddie CoCoza (better known as Mario Lanza). Phil Jr. grew up singing with his father and his voice became his main instrument, although now he will occasionally play sax, guitar, piano, harmonica or congas. Phil has performed full time with "The Sound Investment Band" in the Philly club circuit for 12 years and throughout college before converting the Band into the huge variety dance band that it is today. With a Bachelors Degree in Education from West Chester State University and a Masters in Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, he has spent most of his life, and is most comfortable performing on a stage. Through out his professional career he has worked as a back up vocal for numerous musical studio projects, voice over and commercial TV shows and video spots. Phil’s voice is found on more than 40 different vocal tracks recorded by Gambol and Huff and Cameo Parkway Records. Phil has rehearsed with Todd Rungren of the Nazz in Landsdowne, PA, and more than once performed as duo with "Jim Croce" in Lima, PA. He has recorded at Sonic Studios, the same place where Sheryl Crow and Blues Traveler have recorded. He was the lead vocal on an audition recording project for guitar player Jeff La Baar at the time, soon to be guitar player for the rock band "Cinderella". Phil has written, arranged and produced 4 original CDs/Albums and recorded over 100 single cover tunes.

With an ear for melody, harmony and musicians, Phil co-ordinates the Band's musical talents to collectively create the finished product. As Band leader and a sharing lead vocalist, Phil enjoys weddings and parties. "Performing live with The Sound Investment Band is a fun part of my life. I hope the audience sees that in my performance" says Phil. "I love the variety of music. We can play anything from the 30's to the 90's." Phil also runs the sound system and is in charge of making sure the band sounds just right for your dining and dancing pleasure. He is an excellent speaker and seasoned showman. As a side note, Phil also operates The Philadelphia School of Korean Karate, is a practicing 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do Master and also owns two Gold’s Gyms where The Sound Investment Entertainment Office is located.

MICHELLE CRAEMER

LEAD VOCALIST AND VOCAL ARRANGER

Singing professionally for 22 years and with Sound Investment Band for eight, Michelle is a happy, successful vocal instructor who has recently established a school of music with her sister, Candy. Michelle is single, has a strong loving family relationship with her two sisters and brother who have also been in the performing arts through out childhood. Michelle's personality is sparkling and genuine.

Born and raised in the main line area outside of Philadelphia, Michelle began singing and acting in plays and musical theater throughout high school and college. After college she continued to perform in various hot local bands including the main act on the "Spirit of Philadelphia," a well-known club scene on the waterfront in Philly. She has conquered numerous musical-recording projects that launched her professional career as a vocalist performing in clubs all over the Philadelphia and Tri-state area. She has recently released her new CD single, "This Time Baby," which is getting a great amount of air play, as well as being featured in various magazines, and in new wave disco dance venues in the elite Philadelphia district night clubs.

Since Michelle has established her full time vocal teaching career, she has also made her home base with "The Sound Investment Band." While she continues to fulfill her aspirations in the local world of commercial recording she has developed a strong allegiance to the Band and contributes great musical insights to the vocal harmonies of the Band. During some grueling rehearsals the band members will agree she also contributes a great attitude of positive energy every time she smiles, making us more productive. In the early nineties, Michelle had occasionally filled in with "The Sound Investment Band" and finally in 1995 a mutual agreement was made, and her great vocal and performing talent has mixed perfectly with "The Sound Investment Band" ever since. Michelle brings elegance and style to every performance with the band. "Performing at wedding receptions is the best part of my job", says Michelle, "each one is so unique and everyone there is striving for the same thing for the bride and groom.... a magical day they'll remember forever. I want us to be a part of that memory."

Seeing Michelle on stage makes you feel comfortable to be near her and typically the audience wants to get closer. From a letter a bride wrote to us ... "Hearing her voice can give you chills and put your dancing feet in motion. You can almost feel her heart and soul when she sings..

Joe is a singer/guitarist whose warm voice, engaging style and varied repertoire make him a fast favorite of audiences both young and old. His uncanny memory for popular songs makes him a valued part of any musical ensemble, able to field many a listener's request. Joe sings and plays pop, rock & roll, standards, R&B, country & western, folk, jazz, old-time, bluegrass and traditional music on acoustic and electric guitar and a variety of other instruments. He has performed with bands and as a solo act in and around the Delaware Valley, New York and the New Jersey shore since the late '60s. He is also active in studio work and songwriting, and had the pleasure of working in the studio in Nashville with Bernie Leadon, a founding member of the Eagles, and pianist Larry Knechtel, whose credits include Simon & Garfunkel, Bread, and Elvis Costello. He enjoyed a 12-year solo engagement at the Cuttalossa Inn, a fine dining establishment in the New Hope, PA area, which was profiled in Gourmet Magazine. Joe has also performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Musikfest, Godfrey Daniels Coffeehouse, Troubador Folk Club, the Cherry Tree and the Chestnut Cabaret, and has been a guest on the popular Gene Shay radio show. He brings with him a number of years of experience in the wedding circuit, having performed at many country clubs and 5-star hotels in the tri-state area, and is a welcome addition to the band. He is presently teaching guitar, bass and mandolin at Fretz Music Center in Souderton, PA, in addition to his work with the Sound Investment Band. He considers his musical ability a God-given gift, and delights in sharing the joy of music with an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. He hopes to continue performing "until I'm 100 or so, or as long as people still like to dance!"

SAL LOMBARDO

SAXOPHONE

Sal has been playing the saxophone for more than 30 years beginning his studies with classical music at the age of 14. Sal continued his studies with noted teachers and recording artists Mike Pedicin Jr and Larry McKenna where he learned jazz improvisation. He has played with several of the area's best society bands and enjoys free lancing with smooth jazz groups like the Doug Markley Band. Whether he's playing the soprano, alto or tenor sax, his soaring high notes and syncopated rhythms make Sal's style truly unmistakable.

Bill Moos

KEYBOARDS AND VOCALIST

Bill Moos the keyboardist of r the band has been performing in the Philadelphia area as a pianist, keyboardist and vocalist for the past 20 odd years.  Bill started playing at the age of 3, and took up classical piano lessons at 6.  He studied for 12 years with Michael Ford, a graduate of the Philadelphia Music Academy (now the University of the Arts).  He also studied at the University with Ron Thomas.

Bill was raised in a very musical family, with all 3 brothers playing some sort of instrument.  Around the house there were drums, guitars, cellos, oboes, clarinets, flutes, and of course a piano.  There were also lots of musicians constantly in and out of the house.

“You might say I became a musician through osmosis,” Bill says.

Bill’s performing credits include stints with The Steven Michaels Orchestra, the Christopher Williams Orchestra, The Cutting Edge Bands, and CTO.  He has also performed with Jack Quigley, Zan Gardner, Mary Ellen Desmond, and Fran Smith (of the Hooters), among others.  He has performed at the North Star Bar, JC Dobb’s, the Main Point, and The Capitol Mall in Washington.  His solo career began about ten years ago and he could (and can) be heard at The Moshulu, Creed’s, Baxter’s,  The Union League, and White Manor Country Club, among others.

In 1996, Bill joined the cast of “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” as keyboardist Johnny Wonderful.  Tony ‘n’ Tina is an interactive spoof of a stereotypical Italian wedding.  He left the cast in 2001, but still performs in the show on a semi-regular basis.

Bill’s favorite artists include the Beatles, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Todd Rundgren, and Elvis Costello.  He is also a big fan of medieval and Renaissance music. He brings a solid background in pop, rock, jazz, dance, classical, and traditional music to the Sound Investment Band, as well as a strong singing voice.  He looks forward to making many more musical memories with TSIB.

MASSIMO DE ANGELIS

DRUMS AND PERCUSSION

Originally from Rome, Italy, Massimo came into the U.S.A. in 1987 and joined "The Sound Investment Band" in 1989. He spent his entire adult life playing drums through out Europe, including 4 years on various cruise ships. His father was a renowned jazz drummer in Europe, although retired now, he still enthusiastically enjoys hearing his son play. Like his father, Massimo has been influenced by American music, especially Jazz and R&B. Becoming a United States citizen in 1996, Massimo has come to us as an accomplished musician and serious composer. He has co-produced and performed in 6 CDs and albums. His musical works are eclectic and bring out a delightfully melodious jazz feel as reflected in his CDs. He plays the drums and anything percussive passionately. He can truly express his sound from a jazz, Big band feel to outrageously strong and driving. His strong musicianship and feel for tempos are flawless and you can’t help but appreciate his diversity whether from deep Funk & Disco or from Swing to Alternative. He just makes you want to dance.

NICK FANELLI

BASSIST AND VOCALIST

An exceptional bassist and overall musician, Nick joined the Band in 1989. He has been the funk behind our rhythm section. Nick is also an excellent guitarist and drummer. Starting at an early age as a guitar player like his father, Nick's real talent came to light and he became one of the hottest and most sought after bass players in Philly by the time he was 26 years old. Like the other Sound Investment Band members, he also played full time in various club bands and studio projects for almost two decades. When Nick auditioned for the Band, years ago, he stood out over 46 bass applicants. He admitted that what attracted him to the audition was the challenge of being able to play an intense variety of styles and rhythms required for the position as a Sound Investment Band musician. As a bassist, he has great technique and true feel for the instrument. He lays down bass lines from Swing to Reggae as if he invented them himself. He has pictures of himself performing on stage with an outrageous list of famous artists. My personal favorite is a picture of Nick on stage at the Ambassador Hotel in Chicago jammin' with two members of the "Rolling Stones". We were impressed that it didn't go to his head. Nick is always after the technical perfection of each song with a philosophy and dedication that is reflected in his attention to detail as both a bassist and vocalist.
